Cancer support

A cancer diagnosis not only affects your body but your emotional well-being. We offer support groups for patients, survivors and caregivers. Our programs connect you with others to help you gather together, share your struggles and provide guidance to one another.

Cancer resources in Austin and Central Texas

If you are diagnosed with cancer, our oncology team offers the support you need.

At St. David's HealthCare, our compassionate specialists provide a wide range of services, including nutrition counseling, nurse navigation and rehabilitative care. Additionally, as part of the Sarah Cannon network, we give you access to a full scope of cancer support and treatment options.

Cancer support services

When you receive treatment at one of our hospitals, we not only focus on addressing your cancer diagnosis but also on improving every aspect of your overall health. Cancer support services we offer include:

  • Genetic counseling
  • Mental health services
  • Nurse navigation
  • Nutrition services
  • Oncology rehabilitation
  • Pain and symptom management specialists
  • Palliative care
  • Support groups

Oncology rehabilitation

Cancer treatment can cause adverse symptoms that may be difficult to cope with. We help with this by providing comprehensive rehabilitation services before, during and after treatment. We also provide lymphedema therapy and pelvic floor rehabilitation.

Cancer support groups

It's important to have a network of people around you to offer support and encouragement during your cancer journey. Your nurse navigator can help you find support groups in your area. One resource they may recommend is the American Cancer Society.

Young women's gynecological cancer support group

We offer a support group at St. David's North Austin Medical Center specifically designed for young women who are diagnosed with gynecological cancer. The group takes place on the second Thursday of every month from 6:00pm to 7:15pm.
