St. David’s North Austin Medical Center Recognizes Survivors of Deadliest Heart Attack

On Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, St. David’s North Austin Medical Center recognized survivors of the deadliest type of heart attack, a STEMI (ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction). During the event, survivors had the opportunity to reunite with the physicians and caregivers who saved their lives.

Justin Ballou, a 33-year-old STEMI survivor and Paredes Middle School P.E. teacher, shared his personal story about how bystander CPR and timely treatment allowed him to not only survive, but also to thrive. In fact, Ballou plans to run the Statesman CAP10K on April 7, 2019.
