St. David’s HealthCare facilities among top 5% of U.S. hospitals for clinical outcomes

AUSTIN, Texas—St. David’s HealthCare announced today that St. David’s Medical Center (including Heart Hospital of Austin and St. David’s Georgetown Hospital), St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, received a Healthgrades 2025 America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award™. This distinction recognizes hospitals for superior performance in providing care for conditions and procedures across multiple specialty services. These facilities were recognized among the top 5% of the 4,500 hospitals nationwide included in the assessment for clinical excellence, according to Healthgrades.

In addition to this national recognition, Healthgrades measured hospitals across 18 specialty areas to identify the highest-ranking hospitals in 32 eligible states. St. David’s Medical Center was ranked No. 1 in Texas for cardiology. The facility was also recognized as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for cardiac and vascular surgery and surgical care.

St. David’s Medical Center, St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and St. David’s South Austin Medical Center were also recognized among America's 100 Best Hospitals for critical care. Healthgrades identified the 100 Best Hospitals in the nation for 16 of the most common specialty care areas. Recipient hospitals represent the top 2% of hospitals for each specialty. 

Several St. David’s HealthCare facilities received additional recognitions as 2025 Specialty Excellence Award™ recipients. 

• St. David’s Medical Center and St. David’s South Austin Medical Center were named among the top 10% in the nation for cardiology services. 
• St. David’s Medical Center was named among the top 5% in the nation for overall cardiac and vascular surgery.
• St. David’s Medical Center, St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and St. David’s South Austin Medical Center were recognized as recipients of the Healthgrades Stroke Care Excellence Award. 
• St. David’s Medical Center and St. David’s South Austin Medical Center were named among the top 5% in the nation for the treatment of stroke.
• St. David’s Medical Center and St. David’s South Austin Medical Center were named among the top 5% in the nation for surgical care.
