St. David's Georgetown Hospital names new chief operating officer, Janie Thompson

Georgetown, TX—St. David’s Georgetown Hospital has named Janie Thompson as its new chief operating officer. Thompson assumed her new role on June 1. 

Since 2019, Thompson has served in various roles within St. David’s HealthCare, most recently serving as vice president of operations at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. In this role, Thompson oversaw the operations and business development of clinical services including labor and delivery, transplant and cellular therapy, and oncology. She also led facility renovations and expansions, including the hospital’s women’s services unit, 34-bed medical/surgical unit and 690-space parking garage. 

“Janie has provided exceptional operational leadership during her time within the St. David’s HealthCare system,” Kyle Landry, chief executive officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, said. “She has a proven record for successfully managing hospital growth, and I look forward to the contributions she will make to help us further advance the work we’re doing at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital.” 

Prior to her role as vice president of operations at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, Thompson served as the hospital’s associate administrator. In this role, she developed strategic growth plans and provided operational oversight. Thompson started her career with St. David’s HealthCare as an executive resident, completing rotations with the healthcare system’s hospital executive teams. 

Thompson earned her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, as well as her master’s degree in healthcare administration, from Trinity University in San Antonio. She is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
