St. David’s Neonatologists Study on Neonatal Retinopathy

Dr. Jennifer Desireddi, M.D. is a Neonatologist specializing in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at St. David’s Medical Center. In her 2018 study, Dr. Desireddi collaborated with Dr. C Armitage Harper, pediatric retinologist from Austin Retina Associates, in understanding the life outcomes of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) among micro-premature infants (birth weight is less than 750 g). The retrospective multicenter study included infants at several intensive care facilities in Central Texas from 2011 to 2016. Dr. Desireddi and her colleagues compared the charts of neonates examined and treated with laser ablation or an FDA approved drug (Intravitreal Ranibizumab) with subsequent laser treatment.
