Labor and delivery
Our maternity and newborn care team provides an array of services for expectant moms and their babies. From the moment you arrive at our facility to the day you return home, our team prioritizes your comfort, safety and expectations for your labor and delivery experience. Complete with a specialized baby program, high-level NICUs and childbirth education courses, our teams are committed to giving you the confidence you need in becoming a new parent.
Once you have delivered your baby, we want to make sure you are in the best condition possible to begin caring for your new addition. Our team is specially trained in postpartum care and able to support women who experience a variety of conditions after giving birth.
Preventive heart care
When it comes to heart attacks, the symptoms a woman experiences may differ from those of a man. For example, a woman may experience chest pain, but it is also likely she will have nausea and vomiting, pain in the jaw or back and shortness of breath. Because of this—and because women are at higher risk of developing heart disease—we offer specialized preventive testing and heart care for women.
In the St. David's HealthCare network, we have two facilities dedicated solely to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions: Heart Hospital of Austin and Heart Hospital of Austin at Round Rock. Here, we offer advanced computed tomography (CT) technology that allows for early detection of heart disease. The earlier heart disease is found, the easier it is to treat. This procedure, similar to an X-ray, allows doctors to find blockages and remove them before they can cause significant harm.
