Michelle L. Strong, MD, Ph.D. received her undergraduate degree in pharmacy from Albany College of Pharmacy in Albany, New York, her Ph.D. in pharmacokinetics from the University of Nebraska, in Omaha, Nebraska and medical degree from Indiana University, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She completed her internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah and her Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Strong is a specialist in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care and Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Travis County Medical Society. She frequently participates in the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma annual meeting. She cares for a wide variety of adult patients who are injured, critically ill and/or require urgent abdominal surgery. Dr. Strong is new to the Austin area. She recently moved from Tacoma, Washington where she was practicing in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care and General Surgery at the Tacoma Trauma Center as part of the Trauma Trust team for greater than 6 years. She has also done locum tenems in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care and General Surgery at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID intermittently for the last 2 years. Dr. Strong's significant other, Cedric, plans to join her here in Austin in about 1 year when he finishes his degree in Healthcare Leadership. She enjoys cake decorating in her spare time. Her other interests include biking, hiking, and weight training. She also loves dogs and has a 12-year old red golden retriever.
