St. David’s Georgetown Hospital performs more than 1,000 robotic surgeries in two years
Since receiving its first surgical robot in 2020, St. David's Georgetown Hospital has performed over 1000 minimally invasive surgeries.
As a member of the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, St. David's Georgetown Hospital is bringing robotic-assisted surgical options closer to home for Georgetown residents. The hospital is rapidly growing its robotic platforms, performing more than 1,000 robotic-assisted surgeries since 2020. This milestone was achieved in late 2022, two years after the hospital received its surgical robot and about one year after adding a second one.
These robotic platforms help St. David's Georgetown Hospital surgeons conduct minimally invasive orthopedic and gynecologic surgeries, hernia repairs, gall bladder removals, and oncology procedures. Robotic-assisted surgery provides many benefits to patients including shorter hospitalization, reduced pain and discomfort, faster recovery time, smaller incisions, and a reduced risk of infection.
