St. David’s HealthCare is a unique partnership between a hospital management company and two local non-profits—St. David’s Foundation and Georgetown Health Foundation. The proceeds from the operations of the hospitals fund the foundations, which, in turn, invest those dollars back into the community. Since the inception of St. David’s HealthCare in 1996, more than $780 million have been given back to the community to improve the health and healthcare of people in Central Texas.
St. David's Foundation is one of the largest health foundations in the United States, funding $80 million annually in a five-county area surrounding Austin, Texas. Through a unique partnership with St. David's HealthCare, the Foundation reinvests proceeds from the hospital system back into the community, with a goal of advancing health equity and improving the health and well-being of our most underserved Central Texas neighbors. St. David's Foundation also operates the largest mobile dental program providing charity care in the country and offers the largest healthcare scholarship program in Texas.
The Georgetown Health Foundation's roots date back to 1924 with the establishment of Georgetown's first community hospital. In 2006, Georgetown HealthCare System partnered with St. David's HealthCare by contributing Georgetown Hospital. Georgetown HealthCare System retains a vested interest and a voice in St. David's HealthCare's management. Through this partnership, the Georgetown HealthCare System has created The Georgetown Health Foundation. In this innovative model, revenues from foundation activities go directly toward helping the people of greater Georgetown.
