Austin, Texas — Heart Hospital of Austin has named Amanda McCann as its new chief financial officer. McCann assumed her role on July 2, 2023.

McCann most recently served as the assistant chief financial officer at St. David’s Medical Center, where she helped manage the financial operations of the 435-bed facility, which also included St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital. McCann led mapping projects to enhance patient throughput and bed flexibility, implemented structure around labor and financial reports, organized capital priorities to help ensure available resources and collaborated with nursing units to ensure alignment with staffing operations.

“Throughout her career, Amanda has worked in a wide range of financial roles in the healthcare industry,” Brett Matens, chief executive officer of Heart Hospital of Austin, said. “Her leadership and knowledge of the Central Texas community will help Heart Hospital of Austin continue to be one of the preeminent cardiovascular facilities in the country. As our hospital continues to grow, she will be a valuable member of our leadership team.”

Prior to her role at St. David’s Medical Center, McCann held multiple roles with St. David’s HealthCare. She was a senior accountant from 2013 to 2015, before returning to the hospital system in 2017 as director of finance. McCann spent five years as the director of finance for St. David’s HealthCare where she worked directly with facility CFOs and shared insights with various departments across the healthcare system.

McCann also served in multiple leadership roles across various organizations, including senior financial analyst and accounting manager at Austin Cancer Centers and financial partner at Diesel Holdings.

McCann earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business in Fort Worth. She is a current board member of The Missy Project, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of brain aneurysm disease in children, and she served as the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk event chair in 2022.
