Ambassadors for Community Health - Auxiliary at St. David’s Medical Center Scholarship Program

Application for 2020-2021 Scholarship opens December 1, 2019 and closes February 18, 2020.

Each year the Ambassadors for Community Health - Auxiliary at St. David’s Medical Center (A4CH) award scholarships to students pursuing a degree in fields related directly or indirectly to the delivery of healthcare services. For the 2019-2020 academic year, Ambassadors for Community Health - Auxiliary at St. David’s Medical Center awarded approximately $130,000 in scholarships to 23 students.

Scholarships are awarded to students attending a Texas college or university and who are currently enrolled or have been accepted into a Bachelors Level healthcare program or higher at the time of application. The awards are per semester, and are awarded for Fall and Spring semesters only. More details on eligibility information are listed below.

Eligibility information

Students must have (1) been accepted or (2) be currently enrolled in a Bachelors level healthcare program or higher in the State of Texas such as but not limited to medicine, nursing, pharmacy or physical therapy. Unfortunately, if you are still waiting on acceptance by the required application receipt due date then you are not eligible for this cycle. High School Seniors are not eligible to apply, please visit this page.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

  1. Students must have (1) been accepted or (2) be currently enrolled in a Bachelors level healthcare program or higher in the State of Texas such as but not limited to medicine, nursing, pharmacy or physical therapy
  2. Attend school as a full-time student or full time equivalent as determined by your educational institution for the scholarship period
  3. Provide proof of US Citizenship or permanent resident status
  4. Pass a background investigation
  5. Able to participate in a phone interview with the Scholarship Committee on a designated date in April 2020
  6. David’s Healthcare employees, who are eligible for tuition reimbursement, are not eligible for this scholarship

Application requirements

All requirements listed below must be completed and submitted together. If the application is incomplete, not received in the format requested, or by the due date, the application will NOT be reviewed. No exceptions. Applications must be received no later than 4:00pm on February 18, 2020.

Application packets must contain the following:

  1. Complete application form, including all sections (I, II, and III)
  2. If applicable, supporting documents are required to verify any name differences on application or submitted documents
  3. Official transcript from current school
  4. Students initially entering a healthcare program must include their acceptance letter for the 2020-2021 school year
  5. Copy of proof of US Citizenship (birth certificate; currently valid US passport; or US Citizenship papers) or permanent residence status
  6. A current resume/CV including all health-related work and volunteer experience for the previous three (3) years; be specific and descriptive of the duration of your experiences, hours worked per week and total hours completed (for volunteer experience)
  7. Two completed references (1 copy is provided in the application), each in a signature-sealed envelope; see below: (References may not be from family members, including extended family, or friends - unless from a work, professional or educational setting)
    • One reference form must come from an educational source; if you have experienced a gap in education, this reference may be from a professional source.
    • One reference form must come from a community member such as an employer, coach, volunteer coordinator, church leader, etc.

Scholarship timeline for 2020-2021

February 18, 2020

Completed application package must be received by 4:00 p.m. on this date. Applications will not be considered without all required documents. Applications received after February 18, 2020 will not be reviewed.

Late March 2020

Selected applicants will receive an invitation for an interview. Interviews will be held during April via conference call.

June 1, 2020

Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than this date.

Award information

Applicants who are awarded a scholarship will be notified no later than June 1, 2020. Scholarship recipients will have additional reporting requirements which will be outlined in the notification email/letter. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to your college or university in August & January (no exceptions).
