St. David’s Surgical Hospital—a campus of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center—opened its doors on October 19, 2016.
The hospital, which is dedicated to surgical services, was acquired by St. David’s HealthCare in May 2016 to create additional capacity within the hospital system given the rapid growth of the population in the greater Austin area. Over the next two years, St. David’s HealthCare is investing more than $275 million in the healthcare infrastructure of Central Texas. The acquisition of St. David’s Surgical Hospital was a large part of this investment and is essential to helping us continue to meet the needs of our growing community with the highest quality care.
St. David’s Surgical Hospital will provide the very best in surgical care across a range of surgical specialties, including orthopedic, neurological, bariatric, gynecological and urological surgery, among others.
Located five miles north of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, the facility features 40 inpatient rooms, 10 operating room suites, an intensive care unit, and onsite imaging, pharmacy and lab services.
In anticipation of this opening, St. David’s Surgical Hospital began hiring staff members in June 2016. A team of 130 full-time staff provide patient care at the facility and conduct all aspects of the hospital’s operations.
