St. David’s North Austin Medical Center Names New Chief Medical Officer
AUSTIN, Texas—St. David’s North Austin Medical Center has named Ryan Charbeneau, M.D., as its new chief medical officer effective October 2, 2017. Dr. Charbeneau replaces Ken Mitchell, M.D., who was promoted to senior vice president and chief medical officer of St. David’s HealthCare in August.
“Dr. Charbeneau is a highly regarded physician among our medical and hospital staff with proven leadership skills. In his previous role as a medical director at our hospital, he fostered a collaborative and mutually respectful environment among physicians to achieve quality goals,” Tom Jackson, chief executive officer of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, said. “We’re thrilled to have him join the St. David’s North Austin Medical Center executive team.”
Prior to this role, Dr. Charbeneau spent 12 years as a physician practicing pulmonary/critical care and hospitalist medicine. He spent 10 of those years at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, where he’s held several leadership positions including vice chief of staff, department chair of internal medicine and facility medical director for Hospital Internists of Austin (HIA). He also served on the Hospital Internists of Texas Board of Directors.
During his past five years as the HIA facility medical director for St. David's North Austin Medical Center, Dr. Charbeneau established and continually reinforced expectations for clinical excellence, with notable improvements in metrics and patient satisfaction.
Dr. Charbeneau earned his Bachelor of Arts in biology from The University of Texas at Austin, and he received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The University of Vermont/Fletcher Allen Health Care and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Michigan.
St. David’s North Austin Medical Center
