AUSTIN, Texas—St. David’s HealthCare today announced the opening of St. David’s Emergency Center in Leander, which serves as an extension of St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center. The 11,200-square-foot emergency center will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as a full-service emergency department. It is located at 601 St. David’s Loop, between Highway 183 and the 183A Toll Road on San Gabriel Parkway.

St. David’s Emergency Center in Leander is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians affiliated with St. David’s HealthCare, as well as nurses who are trained in emergency care. It features 12 treatment beds and advanced testing capabilities, including radiological testing and a medical lab. Until
St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has named Dr. Will Davis as medical director of St. David’s Emergency Center in Leander. Dr. Davis has worked at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center for the past 11 years, and he is currently co-medical director of the hospital’s emergency department.
Dr. Davis earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology, and in ethics and religion from the University of Oklahoma. He attended medical school at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences and completed his residency at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago.
The emergency center has hired 25 employees, including nurses, imaging personnel, laboratory personnel, registration staff and support personnel. The future opening of the community hospital will create more than 200 jobs.
