AUSTIN, Texas—The Ambassadors for Community Health – Auxiliary at St. David’s Medical Center (formerly known as St. David’s Medical Center Healthcare Volunteers) has recognized 20 university students across the country with a total of $122,000 in scholarships, funded by proceeds from the non-profit Atrium Gift Shop at St. David’s Medical Center in Central Austin.

The Ambassadors for Community Health – Auxiliary at St. David’s Medical Center announced the recipients—who are working toward a degree in the field of healthcare—based on several criteria. The scholarship committee evaluated applicants on financial need, grades, references and an essay. Finalists also participated in interviews.

The scholarship committee provided scholarship awards of $6,000 to 20 students, and the top candidate, Sai-Han Yu, received the Deborah Albers Scholarship ($8,000). The Deborah Albers Scholarship was established to honor the late president of the Auxiliary at St. David’s Medical Center.
