Blood cancer

Brain cancer

If you are diagnosed with brain cancer, it's important to seek out specialized care to treat it. The neuro-oncologists at our hospitals offer that kind of care, treating a wide range of brain cancers, including meningiomas and oligodendrogliomas.

Breast cancer

From comprehensive breast health services to breast cancer treatment, we are here for you. We offer 3D mammograms, minimally invasive breast biopsies and surgery with minimal scarring.

Solis Mammography is the onsite provider of our comprehensive breast imaging services at St. David’s Medical Center. As the nation’s leader in breast health, Solis Mammography offers screening and diagnostic breast imaging to help patients maintain their breast health and peace of mind. For assistance scheduling your screening or diagnostic mammogram, please call (866) 717-2551.

Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer

GI cancer can affect different areas of the gastrointestinal tract, such as the pancreas, colon and esophagus. Our Complex GI Program provides you with experts in medical oncology, gastroenterology, surgical oncology and more.

Gynecologic cancer

The gynecologic oncologists at our hospitals offer leading diagnostics and treatments for cancers of the female reproductive tract. We also offer support services, such as our Young Women's Gynecologic Oncology Support Group.

Bone marrow transplants

St. David's South Austin is home to the area's only blood and marrow transplant (BMT) program. It provides patients with blood cancers access to comprehensive care and advanced treatments, such as CAR T-cell therapy.

We have an outpatient clinic for adult patients with blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, as well as those who have received or will receive a BMT. Our clinic has an outside entrance, so patients do not have to walk through the main hospital in a compromised state.

Cancer rehabilitation

Cancer treatment can be difficult, causing significant pain, fatigue and distress. To help with these and other symptoms, our rehabilitative therapy specialists are committed to helping patients with cancer function at the highest level. We aim to minimize these side effects and encourage cancer survivors to establish and maintain the best quality of life possible.

Oncology rehabilitation is provided by a group of physical therapists specializing in cancer rehab, lymphedema therapy or pelvic floor rehabilitation. We are able to provide care for adolescent, adult and senior patients.

Schedule an oncology rehab appointment

To get started, talk to your doctor about writing a prescription for physical therapy. Our team needs the prescription prior to scheduling your initial evaluation. You can also drop off your prescription to us and schedule your appointment at that time.

We accept most insurance plans. If you have questions, please call (512) 447-1083.

Coming to your oncology rehabilitation appointment

Rehabilitation services take place at St. David's South Austin Outpatient Rehabilitation, located at:

621 Radam Lane, Suite 200
Austin, TX 78745

Blood and marrow transplants

St. David's South Austin Medical Center is recognized by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) for excellence in blood and marrow transplants (BMTs). We perform BMTs for conditions such as leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

Low-dose computed tomography

Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at St. David's North Austin Medical Center, St. David's South Austin Medical Center and St. David's Round Rock Medical Center offers low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screenings for patients who meet specific criteria to enhance early detection of lung cancer and to reduce mortality among smokers.

To participate in the screening, you must obtain a low-dose lung cancer screening order form and make an appointment with your primary care physician to have a Shared Decision Making session. Your physician will explain the risks and benefits of the study.

High risk individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be asymptomatic
  • 55-77 years old
  • Have at least a 30-pack year smoking history
  • Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years

Cancer nurse navigator program

The Sarah Cannon Oncology navigation and support Team at St. David’s is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of oncology nurse navigators, including a registered dietitian and a mental health social worker. Our Nurse Navigators serve as an advocate and educator for those facing cancer from diagnosis through survivorship.
