About Bailey Square Surgery Center

Bailey Square Surgery Center is the state's very first freestanding multispecialty ambulatory surgery center. Founded in 1973, Bailey Square Surgery Center led the way in developing a safe, convenient, high-quality alternative to in-patient hospitalization. Since then, outpatient surgery has become more than accepted; it has grown to be the preferred alternative.

Today, Bailey Square Surgery Center combines the depths of experience we have gained as industry leaders with a state-of-the-art facility that includes private rooms for patients staying 23 hours.

As always, our emphasis is on convenience, as well as on quality. We help surgeons use their time most efficiently by offering:

  • One phone call to schedule surgery and anesthesia coverage
  • Fast turnaround time between cases
  • Block scheduling
  • Ample capacity, with eleven ORs
  • Flexible afternoon surgery times
  • Experienced OR and PAR professionals who are quick to familiarize themselves with a surgeon's routine
  • Free parking in front of the building

Mission

The mission of Bailey Square Surgery Center and St. David's HealthCare is to provide exceptional care to every patient every day with a spirit of warmth, friendliness and personal pride.

Services

Our surgeons perform a wide range of major and minor surgical procedures on an ambulatory basis, including these specialties:

Special Care for Pediatric Patients

If your child will be undergoing surgery at the center, our staff will do everything we can to make sure everyone is as comfortable as possible before, during and after the procedure. We know from experience that it helps to show and tell pediatric patients and their parents what they can expect the day of surgery. If appropriate, you can call us prior to the scheduled surgery date to arrange a personal tour and meet some of the staff. A nurse from the center will call you at least one day before your child's surgery to go over instructions, including the preoperative guidelines and the day of surgery checklist. If you can't be reached by phone, please be sure to call the center no later than the day before surgery.

On the day of surgery, it is a good idea to bring your child's favorite stuffed animal, blanket, toy or other item from home so he or she will be more at ease. You'll have an opportunity to talk with your child's anesthesiologist, and just before the procedure we'll help get your child dressed into pajamas and slippers. Although we never leave our young patients alone, we prefer that you stay with your child at all times, right up until the time your child is taken to the operating room. Shortly after surgery, parents are reunited with their child, so one of the first faces your child sees will be yours.
